Being ‘Out of office’ is gaining momentum.

Co-working and co-living are becoming more commonplace.

Here are some of the most exciting ways to dip your toe into this brave new world of work, play and adventure around the world over the coming months.

Please let me know if you know of more and I will add.

1. Escape to Umbria, Italy, 24–27 June 2016

‘Take some time off-line to consider your escape.

We often go so fast that we forget to really consider what we’re escaping from and to. The weekend offers you a space where you can slow down and reconnect with what matters to you and map out your escape plan. Long walks, great coffee, cooking, animal feeding, hammock hangouts and play time.’

2. Refuga, Barcelona, Spain, May & September 2016

‘At Refuga Spain, you will get a chance of talking, working and living with other entrepreneurs for a week. This event is for you, who want to get things done and enjoy talks and feedback sessions while combining it all with a bit of adventure.

We will have daily sessions, a trip to the beautiful mountain called Montserrat and there is plenty of opportunities to enjoy the fantastic area. Our goal is that you will get more work done than at home while meeting awesome people and getting incredible insights. Come join us!’

3. Pandorahub, Catalan Pyrenees, 15–17th April 2016

‘Reviving villages and rural areas by providing startups, digital nomads and career shifters with tools for becoming more self-sufficient.’

4. Alptitude, France, 4–11 June 2016

‘Brought to you by The Happy Startup School and Dream Valley Projects and now in its second year, Alptitude will bring 25 purpose-driven entrepreneurs and changemakers from around the world together for a unique, meaningful experience in the heart of the stunning French Alps.’

5. Surf Office, Portugal & Gran Canaria, all year round

‘We offer a spacious house in Cais do Sodré, a happening neighborhood jam-packed with activities. Pop in for the day, or kick off your shoes and stay awhile.

We offer private rooms, perfect for relaxing in after a productive day in our shared workspace. Work and play and collaborate with likeminded professionals from around the world.’

6. Southwest Collective, Guia, Portugal, 11–18 September 2016

‘Offsite Immersive is a week long coworking retreat in the south of Portugal where 18 professionals, 4 resident volunteers, and industry expert speakers, get together to balance work days, with meaningful experiences! It’s a time and place to feel energized and inspired, focus on personal or professionals projects, explore ideas through collective thinking and collaboration.

Diverse thinkers from different disciplines — creatives, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, TEDx speakers, startup founders, millennials and industry experts, will bring their passion and contribute by sharing experiences and skills! We’ll find ourselves having purposeful conversations on the beach or under starry skies!’

7. Tribewanted Bali, Indonesia, all year round

‘We’re hosting motivated, curious people (solo, couples, families) to join us here in Ubud, Bali to build a new community, a co-working tribe, that increases our productivity and creativity. And we are doing this all whilst discovering this beautiful, amazing island and its culture. We are limiting places to 20 at any one time and you can join us for a minimum of 2 weeks but ideally, you will come for at least a month (or even longer, once you get hooked). Previous members have stayed an average of 6 weeks. We’ve been running Tribewanted Bali since January 2015 and so far over 80 people have been part of it. And the great news is, we’ve got spaces left to join us between now and May’16 (for a later date, please get in touch).’

8. Gonubalabala Island, Papua New Guinea, September — December

‘We are looking for 10 intrepid pioneers who want to immerse themselves in island life and live differently for a little while. Tribewanted has partnered with the community of Gonubalabala and the Mailulu clan to bring you an incredible island adventure and cultural experience.

We support the 20 island inhabitants’ goal of building a simple off-grid eco-tourism site. We are looking for an electrician, a doctor, a teacher, a permaculturist, a musician, a cook and you! 10 bold adventurers to live not for a few weeks, but for the entire dry season on this idyllic island in the Samarai archipelago and build new tribe-homes.’

9. 20 mission, Medellin, Columbia, all year round

‘20Mission-Medellin is a 12 room community located within Medellin, Colombia for art and technology creators. The space is composed of individual rooms and multiple areas in which you will have additional access to, such as the common room with couches, a bar, and theater.’
